BGSD Invitational Tournament
2009 HR Derby
Aaron Krieger was the clear winner in the HR Derby for 2009. In poor conditions which included a slight drizzle and rare wind blowing in from left field Krieger belted 7 homers in the preliminary, finishing first in the round. Ryan Wood hit 4 home runs to advance to the finals, and Brian Anderson, Ed Bailey, Nate Brosius, Nate Reed and Thomas Threat each had two, putting 4 hitters in a tie for just two remaining spots in the finals. The rain got worse and the wind picked up so after a 3-swing tiebreak produced no homers, the process was repeated until Threat finally put one out. Krieger continued to swing the bat well and knocked three out in the final round to take the title, the trophy and the $100 prize.

2009 Golden Arm Contest
Tom Galasky was the only player to put a ball through the 10-point target and it staked him to a 22 point round in the preliminaries. That put him into the finals along with Nerone and Sons/Harry Buffalo stars Anthony Valentino and Mike Adkins, who scored 14 apiece. Valentino won the tiebreaker and put up 10 more points to give him a total of 24. Galasky played it smart, and though his first throw in the finals missed everything, he eventually sailed the next two throws for 2 points each to win the second ever Golden Arm trophy and a $75 prize.

2009 Fastest Man Contest
The Fastest Man contest was marred by poor field conditions as only 3 participants ran the bases before heavier rains approached and discretion became the better part of valor for prospective speedsters. Mike Lemponen beat out his teammate Ricky Nerone by just 2 hundreths of a second and won the trophy and $50. Next year's award will be named the "Mike Lemponen Fastest Man Award"
