Schnitzel: 2013 Mayfield Village Men's Basketball Champions

Spring is officially here, which signifies a farewell to our basketball leagues and a homecoming to our softball and baseball (and maybe even soccer) leagues. Before we transfer to softball, though, we will give a brief recap of the Mayfield Village Men's Championship between Novak and Schnitzel...

This year's Mayfield Village Men's Final was a repeat of last year's, in which Novak defeated Schnitzel 76-63. Schnitzel, determined to return the favor this year, displayed some excellent defense and had a big second half to win the game 63-54. Schnitzel held Novak Insurance to over 20 points under their average. Top performers for Schnitzel were Nate Heyka (12 PTS, 7 REB) and Demetrius Travis (17 PTS, all in 2nd half).

2011 Women's Player of the Year, Jamie Smrdel, and 2008 Men's Player of the Year, Jason Fifik

The 2012 Player of the Year Chase standings are out, and a couple of usual faces claim the top spots for the Men and Women: 2008 Men's Player of the Year, Jason Fifik, is currently claiming the top spot for the Men, while last year's Women's Player of the Year, Jamie Smrdel, is leading the way for the Women. These lists take into account the stats of every single player on every single team in any BGSD league. The lists are separated by Men's leagues, Women's leagues, Coed leagues, and Women in Coed leagues.

First Edition of BGSD Team Power Rankings Are Out!

The first calculation of the Team Power Rankings have come out, granting KOK Softball Club from Euclid Sunday Night Division I Men the top spot in the BGSD universe. At Witz End from Euclid Sunday Night Division II and Merry Arts/ Wiedt from Lakewood Mon/Wed AA have come in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Search where your team is ranked!

1.5.11 Lake County Captains Come Aboard in 2011! BGSD proudly names the Lake County Captains as its newest sponsor! The Captains have agreed to sponsor the players of the week for all softball leagues for the entire 2011 summer season. This sponsorship awards the players of the week two free tickets to a Captains home game. Not to be forgotten, teammates of the player of the week can purchase Captains' tickets at a 30% discounted rate. Additionally, the Captains will host a BGSD Awards Night on August 31 at Classic Park, home of the Captains. On the field before the game, the BGSD Players of the Year will be given awards for their accomplishments. Here is the link to the full agreement. 10.12.09 New for Basketball 2009: League MVP Race! One of our most popular features for softball is unquestionably the League MVP race. BGSD's top secret formula calculates the top offensive performers in the league and ranks them throughout the season, with the top player getting coveted bragging rights. This year, we are excited to announce that we have added the MVP race to all our basketball leagues. Quite a lot of work was put into developing a formula to rate and rank the players in each league, and we hope you enjoy this new feature. The first basketball leagues are underway, you can see the formula in action on the pages for the Cleveland Heights Men's and Women's Winter basketball leagues.
9.14.09 Hockey! Hockey! Hockey! BGSD is excited to announce the addition of the East Side Hockey League to our lineup. The adult recreational league plays its games at Thornton Park Arena in Shaker Heights on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights, and is the first hockey league to use BGSD's stats since the BGSD.com website was launched. We look forward to providing the players stats this season! Stats will be posted on our hockey page.
